Isaiah 55: 1 ESV Come, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; and he who has no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.
If you want to eat well, it will cost you. I’m learning that more so these days. But, the greatest nourishment that is able to fill the depths of our souls has no monetary cost based on the verse listed above. There’s no scrambling for change or dollars or saving up for the day to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. The gift of grace is for the taking now. Not in a selfish way like when a child sees a favored toy across the room and goes and grabs it with no thought for the one who provided it for her. James 3:17 helps me out here: “But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy, and good fruits, impartial and sincere.”
Psalm 19: 7-10 fans into flame my affections for Christ as I pursue Him: “The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple; the precepts of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes; the fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever; the rules of the LORD are true, and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and drippings of the honeycomb.”
In closing, Christ pursued me first. I praise Him for loving me first: Romans 5:8 ESV “…but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
Praise God from whom all blessings flow! Praise Him all creatures here below. Praise Him above ye heavenly hosts. Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.
